Photo Gallery Samples

Photo Gallery Options

If you are interested in having a gallery of photos on your Web site, the range of options can be daunting. Here are several samples outlining the features of each with a link to a sample site using each of the types of galleries we’ve used.

Baroness Mowers< - Custom "Light Box"

Photo Gallery SampleThis sample gallery was produced for a client that wanted a visually appealing gallery right on its own page, with interactivity and specialized “pop-up” effects without opening a new window with which pop-up blockers typically interfere.

This type of gallery is typically priced at 2 hours for the initial page creation plus 15 minutes per photo as three sizes are required. This is all hand-coded xhtml plus the use of an open source JavaScript photo viewer component.

Brooks Avenue - Standard “Slide Show”

Photo Gallery SampleThis sample gallery was produced as a “standard” installation of a slide show component we have used successfully. The concept was to have a single page on the Web site but a way to manage photos within albums, within galleries by using a management interface that allowed the site owner to refresh photos periodically.

This type of gallery is typically priced at 2 hours for the initial page set up with no photo processing time—but may require some training on how to manage the photos.

Flash Gallery 1

Photo Gallery SampleThe next two galleries use slideshows with thumbnails and drop-down selection of galleries. Pros: Fast installation and delivery for your site. Cons: This version does not have the ability to upload new photos.

Flash Gallery 2

Photo Gallery SampleWhile similar, this gallery uses images from a folder on the server and an XML file which describes the photos to be shown. This makes it fairly easy for the Nu-Designs' staff to replace or add photos.

Brescia-Stone - Customized “Slide Show”

Photo Gallery SampleThis gallery was requested to imitate the iPhone “Flip Through” look and feel along with the “Light Box” black-out pop-up effect from the first sample.

This type of gallery was designed completely as custom flash ActionScript plus the use of an open source JavaScript photo viewer component. The client can upload and manage photos, captions, descriptions, and more. Managing photos using this software may require some training as well.
